Bertha “Butch” Kate Scrivner was born March 26, 1925 in Lee Valley, Tennessee to Audie Luke and Mary Jane (Russell) Trent. Bertha’s family moved to Hammon, Oklahoma in late 1928 or early 1929. She attended school through the 8th grade at Hammon School. On June 4, 1942, at the age of 17, she married W.K. (Bill) Scrivner in Hammon, Oklahoma. Their marriage produced three children, Phyllis (Scrivner) Fox; Marvin Scrivner, and Kathy (Scrivner) Sammons. Other than taking care of her family, Bertha loved being in her yard, canning, cooking large home cooked meals for her family and loved ones, spending her weekends at garage sales, and keeping in touch with her loved ones even when she couldn’t hear them. Even in her 90’s she loved to rearrange her home, and guests never knew how the furniture would be when they went to visit. Bertha was also quick-witted and was not afraid to speak her mind, but she loved to spoil her grandkids and had a great laugh that could be heard on special occasions. She is preceded in death by her parents Audie and Mary Trent; her three brothers and seven sisters; son Marvin Scrivner; grandson Monty Fox; and grandson Brent Scrivner. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Fox and husband, Dennis of Taloga, Oklahoma; Kathy Sammons and husband, Mike of Newalla, Oklahoma; Daughter-in-Law: Lois Scrivner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Two grandsons, Justin Fox and wife Dusty of Taloga, Oklahoma; Chad Scrivner and wife Raye of Lexington, Oklahoma; Three granddaughters, Shauna Lee and partner, Duane Avery of Norman, Oklahoma; Jennifer Stanczyk and husband, Mark of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Amanda Frantz and husband, Jason of Balko, Oklahoma; Nine great-grandchildren, Jared Fox and wife Cherice of Taloga, Oklahoma; Kelyn Fox and wife E’Laura of Taloga, Oklahoma; Colton Scrivner of Chicago, Illinois; Kerrie Scrivner of Lexington, Oklahoma; Jordan Lee of Minnesota; Hunter Fox of Taloga, Oklahoma; Ethan Stanczyk of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Callen and Elliot Frantz of Balko, Oklahoma. Bertha lived a long life and was blessed with four great-great grandchildren; Rylynn and Rustyn Fox , and Kyson and Kipton Fox. She is survived by one sister, Colene Hornbrook and husband John of Evensville, Indiana. One sister-in-law, Opal Trent, of Duncan, Oklahoma . She also loved and cherished her many nieces and nephews from across the country. The family would like to thank Dian White and family for being such a good friend to mom. The White’s were always willing to take mom to garage sales, Wal-Mart runs, and out to eat. Their friendship meant the world to mom. The family would also like to thank Wellington Parke Assisted Living for taking such great care of mom the last few years of her life.
