Delma Evelyn (Bolding) Whitaker, 85, of Midwest City went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 18, 2022. She was born November 4, 1936, near Hennepin, Oklahoma to Sarah Elizabeth (Eaves) Bolding and Delmas Franklin “Dood” Bolding. She married G. C. Whitaker Jr., on June 22, 1957. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together. She was raised on the family farm and attended Woodland School, except for a brief time the family spent in California during her teens. She was the third child of eight and the first of two girls. A devoted mother to Carl Wayne, LaWanda Jean and Phillip Eugene, Delma immensely enjoyed time spent with her nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was also a skilled upholsterer, well-known by the local interior decorators for her many talents. Always dressed in purple, she loved spending time nurturing her plants and showing off photos of her kids and grandkids. Together, Delma and Jr. enjoyed bluegrass music, travelling around the country following their favorite band, Tony Holt and the Wildwood Valley Boys. Most recently, they spent time at the Midwest City Senior Citizen’s Center with friends and time caring for their beloved pets. Delma treasured friendships greatly and loved her neighbors dearly. Delma is survived by her husband, Jr. Whitaker, her son, Carl Wayne (Radonna) and her daughter LaWanda Jean (Johnny Buckaloo) as well as her seven grandchildren: Travis Carpenter, Adam Carpenter (Tabitha,) Morgan Carpenter (Jennie), Keila Manos (Mark), Matthew Whitaker (Kendra), Chris Shero (Jennifer), Frankie Whitaker (Kristin), Jeff Buckaloo (Ashley) and Dillan Buckaloo; great grandchildren Aspen Robinson, Acer, Lilly and River Carpenter, Kaelyn and Katy Carpenter, Cason Manos, Milly and Milo Whitaker, Diesel, Nash, and Wesson Whitaker, Cayden, Jeffery and Ty Buckaloo. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Kenneth, Howard, Odell, Frankie, and Raymond Bolding, son Phillip and great-grandson, Anthony. Surviving her are her sister, Janette Feezor, and brother, Travis Bolding as well as many sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces. A celebration of Delma’s life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 22, at the Ford Funeral Chapel, 305 S. Sooner Rd., Midwest City, OK 73110.. Following the service, she will be interred at the Sunny Lane cemetery in Del City. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday, March 21, 2022, at Ford Funeral Home. Memorials in Delma’s honor can be made to the Midwest City Senior Citizen Center's Nutritional Program.
