Paul Kenneth Fanning Jr.
February 4, 1952 - May 11, 2022
Paul Kenneth Fanning Jr. of Oklahoma City passed away the night of Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the age of 70. He was born on February 4, 1952, in Oklahoma City to Paul and Billie Fanning. Paul grew up in Midwest City with 2 other siblings Wilma and Terry. In 1971 Paul would meet the love of his life, Carolyn Dianne and that same year they were united in marriage. Paul and Carolyn would have 4 kids together, Tracey, Travis, Chrissy, and Joe. He had 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren whom he enjoyed spending time with and loved tremendously. Family was everything to Paul and he was everything you would want in a father. The family took frequent trips together to visit Carolyn’s family in North Carolina. While on vacation he would take the kids out to the beach and was never one to sit back and watch. He was always in the water playing with them. He was heavily involved in all the kid’s activities and sporting events, never missing anything if he didn’t have to. He was a little league coach while the kids grew up. Coaching football, baseball, and softball. Paul and Carolyn ran the Vikings football program, doing everything to make sure the kids had what they needed to play. Years after he stopped coaching the players would still refer to him as “coach.” Something he said to them that many would still remember today was “get tough or die.” When he wasn’t with the kids Paul loved to work on cars and was quite the handyman around the house. He believed in fixing things yourself and making them last. Paul loved his family deeply. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
