Shari Gail Smith

October 16, 1946 - January 24, 2022

Shari was born on October 16, 1946, in Lubbock Texas to Inez Wade and Fred Henry Wade. She has lived in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and Australia. She raised her family in Oklahoma and California. Shari was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Del City High School in 1965. She attended the University of Central Oklahoma and later pursued art interests at Rose State College. She loved nature, art, music, and world travel. Of her many jobs, she enjoyed her work for Wade’s Real Estate, Income Tax and Accounting office, as well as the Oklahoma City Zoo. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time as a substitute teacher at Cleveland Bailey Elementary School, a member of the PTA and was very involved with activities at the school. She was a lifelong member of Sunnylane United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by both parents; her first husband Steven Smith; her second husband Lt. Col. James Richard (Jim) Pitts; partner Adrian Featherstone; niece Gayla Puckett Satterwhite; sister Fredda Beth Wade Puckett; and brother-in-law Ed Puckett. She is survived by 2 daughters, Shairell Smith and Stefnie Hawley; 1 grandson Thomas Hawley; nieces Fredda Puckett and Dina Marney; and many loved extended family. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 29th, 10:00 AM at Sunnylane Cemetery 4000 S.E. 29th St. In Del City, Oklahoma. The family kindly requests face masks and social distancing.
